Heemu asks for one sensitive Android permission. Here is exactly what it does, and what it does not.
Heemu reads the name of the app that is currently open on your screen, so it can show the mindful pause at the exact moment you open an app you chose to limit.
Android can also report app usage after the fact, but those statistics arrive seconds late, once you are already scrolling. A pause that shows up then is useless. The Accessibility Service is the only way to catch that moment as it happens, which is why Heemu asks for it and nothing broader.
Only the name of the app in the foreground, so it can be checked against the list of apps you picked yourself.
Your messages, your passwords, anything you type, or the content of any screen. Heemu does not record or capture your screen.
Nowhere. The app name is checked on your device and is never collected, stored on our servers, or shared with anyone.
Heemu is not an accessibility tool and is not built for users with disabilities. The service is never switched on by itself. You are asked inside the app first, you choose whether to agree, and you turn it on yourself in Android Settings. You can turn it off at any time, and Heemu keeps working without the pause feature.
Heemu also asks for Usage Access to show your daily screen time. That one is optional. Mindful pauses work without it, only the statistics will be missing. Full details are in our privacy policy.
Yes. Heemu is free to download and use, with no ads and no data selling. We built it as a sadaqah jariyah for the Ummah.
No. Heemu only detects when an app you have personally chosen to limit opens, and that check never leaves your phone. We do not read your screen, your messages, or your keystrokes, and we do not use analytics or tracking of any kind. Your dhikr and ayat counts are saved to your account so your progress survives a reinstall. Full details are in our privacy policy.
Android's Accessibility Service is what tells Heemu which app has just come to the front, at the moment it happens. Android can also report app usage afterwards, but those numbers arrive seconds late, once you are already scrolling, so a pause built on them would always be too late. We use the service strictly to show you a mindful pause when you open a distracting app, and nothing else.
It reads only the name of the app in front, so Heemu can check it against the list you picked yourself. It does not read your messages, your passwords, or anything you type, and it never records or captures your screen.
